Shortly after graduating as a civil engineer from the University of Florida, I landed a job working on quality control during the construction of Walt Disney World. I started in 1968 and quickly learned that we were all focused on an immovable opening date of October 1, 1971.
Whenever an issue related to quality came up, the discussions about what to do always ended with the question “What Would Walt Do?” Everyone knew the answer: Walt would not sacrifice quality for any reason.
Several years ago I wrote a book about my memories of the construction of what was then the largest construction project in the world.
