Pine Island is located in Southwest Florida between Captiva and Sanibel Islands and the mainland at Cape Coral. It has retained its Old Florida flavor more than most other places in our state.
The entrance onto Pine Island is by way of a narrow bridge through the charming small community of Matlacha, pronounced “matt la shay.” The island is 17 miles long with the tiny community of Bokeelia on its north end and the larger St. James City on the south.
