Palm Bay is on Florida’s Space Coast immediately south of Melbourne. When it was incorporated in 1960, its population was about 2,800. The town was located at the point where Turkey Creek meets the Indian River Lagoon.
General Development Corporation bought thousands of acres in the area and platted a development named Port Malabar. They sold lots by mail order and flying in prospective buyers. Palm Bay grew to 120,000 people.
