Chattahoochee is in north Florida close to the Georgia and Alabama state lines. The Chattahoochee and Flint Rivers come down from those states and join in Lake Seminole at Chattahoochee. From there it becomes the Apalachicola River and flows south to the Gulf of Mexico.
Chattahoochee is well known to Floridians as the location of the historic Florida State Hospital. It was established in 1876 as Florida’s only mental institution. Many of our mothers threated to send us there if we didn’t behave or if she considered we were acting strangely.
